Summary of 2024 Export Support Projects
As global economic uncertainty persists and new trade environments such as supply chain restructuring, digital transformation, and carbon neutrality emerge, the importance of exports—the core driver of South Korea's economy—is growing ever stronger. Accordingly, the government is preparing multifaceted policies in 2025 to strengthen the export competitiveness of Korean companies and actively support their entry into overseas markets.
In this post, aiming for 2025, we will provide a comprehensive guide to the major export support projects implemented by the central government and local governments in 2024 that Korean companies can utilize. Detailed information can be found in the table provided below, and here we will explain the characteristics and directions of each supported project.
1. Central Government: Broad and Systematic Support System
Central government ministries such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, as well as affiliated organizations like KOTRA, the Korea International Trade Association, and the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, serve as the control tower for Korea's exports, providing extensive and systematic support measures.
- Financial Support: We operate financial support programs for stable trade transactions, including export-import loans, guarantees, export insurance, and exchange rate fluctuation insurance. In particular, preferential support for small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-sized enterprises and innovative growth industries is expected to be strengthened.
- Overseas Marketing: We assist in discovering overseas buyers and developing sales channels through various means, including support for participation in overseas exhibitions (group pavilions and individual booths), dispatching trade delegations, hosting export consultation meetings, and utilizing online platforms (such as buyKOREA).
- Information and Consulting: We offer information and expert consulting necessary throughout the export process, including FTA utilization consulting, overseas market information, support for obtaining overseas standard certifications, intellectual property protection, and trade practice training.
- Establishing an export base: We are also working to lay the foundation for long-term export competitiveness by building export infrastructure, supporting R&D, and training trade professionals.

3. Strategies for utilizing support projects
To effectively utilize various export support programs, it is advisable to consider the following points.
- Company Status Diagnosis: Clearly identify your export capabilities, main products, target markets, and more.
- Exploring information: You can check detailed information through this post, the tables provided, and each institution's website (Export Support Utilization Platform (Export Vouchers), K-Startups, KOTRA Trade & Investment 24, KOSCO GoBiz Korea, Local Government Business Support Portals, etc.).
- Customized Business Selection: We select support programs that best match the company's current status and goals. Utilizing both central and local government projects simultaneously is also a good strategy.
- Active inquiries and applications: If you have any questions, actively contact the institution's representative and carefully prepare the application process according to the announcement schedule. Utilizing consultation services provided by KOTRA, Korea International Trade Associations, and regional export support centers is also a good approach.
- Ongoing Care: Even after being selected for a supported project, you must diligently carry out the project according to the business plan and focus on reporting results and managing performance.
